Ypsi Fall River Day Kayak Trips – Sunday September 24, 2017

 

Paddle Ypsi:  Paddle the Huron River as it winds through Ypsilanti into Ford Lake. Launch from Frog Island Park anytime Noon to 3pm. Catch our shuttle back to Frog Island Park from a designated downstream takeout on the hour 1-4pm.  $10 for a single kayak; $15 for a two-person kayak. Trip guides will be on hand for beginners. Price includes all equipment and transportation. Walk up registration. Paddle Ypsi trips are limited availability, first come, first served and depend on river conditions.

 

Paddle Ypsi Kayak Rental Details:

 

  • All boaters are required to sign a Risk Waiver. A parent or guardian must sign for children younger than 16 years old.

  • Maximum cooler size allowed is 12" x 12" x 12". Only ONE cooler per boat, Styrofoam coolers are not permitted.

  • No alcohol, no glass bottles.

  • Lifejackets are required and provided. We have all sizes from child's small to adult XL.

  • Children under the age of 1 year are not permitted in our watercraft.

  • Minors under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult (age 18 or older).

  • One person in your group is required to fill out a rental agreement and leave a deposit (either car keys or driver's license) for the rented boats.

  • We accept all credit cards, cash or checks as payment.

  • Dogs are welcome!

  • Swimming, diving and jumping from watercraft are prohibited.

  • Valuables or personal belongings that you do not want to get wet or lost should not be taken on the river or should be enclosed in a water tight container.

  • Late fee: The City will charge double the rental rate per watercraft for equipment that is not returned to the takeout by 4pm.

  • Maps – Participants will be given maps showing the kayak route from the put-in point to the take-out area. To view the map that will be provided, click here.

  • Take Out Point – This is where you will end your trip. It is located on the west side of the Huron River immediately south of the I-94 bridge over the River. There will be a flag/banner showing where the take-out is at as well as volunteers to help you land your canoe and kayak.

  • What to bring – Waterproof bags (i.e. gallon, zip-lock freezer bags) to keep valuables dry, water to drink, snacks, sunscreen & hat if sunny, garbage bags to keep bigger items dry (such as backpacks), gloves (helps prevent blisters when using a paddle). 

  • Parking - Limited parking is available in Riverside Park with more parking sites in the Depot Town area adjacent to the Park (link to parking map).
